SHOW NOTES
One of the biggest questions I get from clients is: How can I get my website to convert better?
Generally, people don’t know why their websites are underperforming. Oftentimes, this is because their website is not doing what they think it’s doing.
Think, Feel, Know, Do
There are four questions that everyone with a website should ask themselves. Ensuring that your website clearly reflects the answers to these questions will make a world of difference when it comes to increasing conversion rates and growing your business.
What do you want someone to think when they visit your website?
This is their first impression of you and your business. What do you want them to think the moment they see your site? Better yet, what do you want them to think about when your business comes to mind and they are speaking about your product or services to others.
What do you want someone to feel when they visit your website?
Feelings are very important. People need to feel comfortable, like they have come to the right place. More importantly, they need to feel like they can trust you to help them fix their problem.
What do you want someone to know when they visit your website?
That you are the best in your field? The best kept secret? That you have the best solution to their problem? If your message goal is to deliver a specific piece of knowledge make sure you  clearly highlight that understanding.
What do you want someone to do when they visit your website?
If you leave here with nothing else but this, your website will be all the better for it!  This is the action you want people to ultimately take before they leave your site. If your website doesn’t prompt people to take an action, then it’s nothing more than an expensive business card.  Most people expect their website visitors to just know what to do so they leave them to their own devices rather than leading them where they want them to go (opt in, consultation request, buying something, etc) – don’t make this mistake, think through how you want someone to dance with your website.
To Recap
If you tweak these four things and lead them where you want them to go, you will see amazing results, fast. Take a look at your website from the eyes of your ideal customer. Does your site clearly and easily answer these four questions? Once the answer is yes, you will be well on your way to quality leads and higher conversion rates, oh yeah, and bigger impacts and profits! Â Â
As always: Keep it simple, so you can grow.
