I was reading Ready, Fire, Aim the other day and the author, Michael, reminded me of such an important life lesson about the relationship between success and failure so here it is… if you want more success you need to:
Multiply and accelerate your failure rate.
I know, I know. I can hear you groaning from here but stay with me.
Success is directly proportional to the rate at which you can get through failure – if you are not failing it generally means you are not moving forward.
In business, stagnation isn’t stagnation, it is death. If you are not growing, that means you are in fact dying and your business along with it.
In that same vein if you look at what pre-supposes success, it is actually the willingness to fail.
If you can view failure as nothing but feedback and not the scary paralysis that it sometimes creates, your rate of success will drastically improve.
If you can “risk” the potential failure of an action you are about to take, then your chances of adapting and landing on success exponentially increase.
Here’s my challenge to you, if you choose to accept it: Look at the areas of your life and business and ask yourself this simple question: “Where am I afraid I will fail?”
When you are clear on the areas your brain is screaming at you in fear of failure, those are the areas to focus on ONE action you can take to move forward. Whether it is picking up the phone, writing that email, doing the video…take a step and be courageous enough to fail forward.
Let me know how it goes!
