Are you ready to have more productive weeks? Listen in to this weeks podcast to learn how less than 30 minutes on a Sunday can change your whole week’s trajectory!
Show Notes
I know, I know, Sundays are part of the weekend. No one wants to spend them working. But, if you are ready to have more productive weeks then you must take a listen to this week’s episode where I explain the magic of Sunday planning.
Plan Your Week
I don’t know about you, but I want to go into the office on Monday knowing what I’m going to work on.
To make this happen, I spend fifteen to thirty minutes each Sunday making a list of everything that needs to get done during the upcoming week. Then, I break that list down into three separate lists:
- Things that are really important, but not urgent.
- Things that can be delegated.
- Miscellaneous, low-importance, non income producing tasks.
All the tasks on the first list get pulled out and separated into two groups: Stuff that’s for my business and Stuff that’s for clients. This gives me a clear look at what I must do by the end of the week to move both them and me forward.
Then I get a chance to look at the birds eye view of the rest of the tasks to really see what ones will make the biggest difference in my business or my client’s businesses this week and plan around those.
Set Boundaries
If you aren’t on my calendar or related to me by blood, I don’t let calls interrupt my schedule during the workweek. It sounds harsh, but I am far more productive when I stick to my established schedule and so will you! You know what they say, lack of planning on your part, does not constitute an emergency on mine. Protect your time and your priorities, your business and your life will thank you!
What About Multitasking?
Multitasking is a lie. No one can really do it. Multitasking effectively relies on using two different parts of your brain for different tasks – like driving and talking on the phone, hands-free. If you are trying to multitask using the same part of your brain, it’s just not going to work. To keep me on track, I block out some time and only work on that one thing. My favorite timer is Be Focused.
To Recap
Sunday planning is magic. It can help you feel less stressed. You’ll prioritize better and be more focused throughout the week. You’ll suddenly be able to focus more on the priority tasks that are going to actually move your business forward.
As always: Keep it simple, so you can grow.
