What is belief? The exact definition is this:
But I believe belief is so much more. Belief is what stands between you and your dreams. What goes on between your ears is the single biggest factor to your success or status quo.
Most of our beliefs are formed through the course of our lives from other people – our parents, society, etc. which leaves me with the million dollar question, how many of those beliefs are true and more than that how many of them are yours?
I love those two questions because what I have come to find out is that about 90% of my beliefs turn out to be figments of my imagination and about 99% were those that others held but were not true or aligned with me. At first that made me really mad! How could I have been a slave to my beliefs for so long?! And then I realized it was a gift. I also realized that like most anything, beliefs are a habit. I can choose to reinforce the negative beliefs I have or I can choose to reinforce the positive ones – after all it takes the same amount of effort and the time will pass anyways.
In addition, I want you to lean in close for this one…
FEAR IS A LIAR
Those things that you are afraid of or dreading? Its because you have a belief about the amount of pain versus pleasure that particular scenario will create. Just think back with me. That last conversation or phone call you might have been fearful to make, once you got over your fear and did it, it wasn’t so bad, in fact it probably went so much better than you thoughts, right?? Exactly! So here’s my thought for the day… take your beliefs and check em. Check if they are yours, check if they are true, and more than that check to make sure they are not just a fear dressed up to keep you stuck.
